Bugisu Project

About Us

The Bugisu Project aims to drive social and economic development projects in Uganda through the provision of ethical coffee to Australian corporate companies and their employees. In Uganda, Bugisu focus on quality education, entrepreneurship opportunities and environmental conservation. Whilst in Australia, Bugisu focus on promoting sustainable production and consumption patterns, climate action and increased social responsibility.

Bugisu Project imports coffee to Australia from the Bugisu Cooperative Union (a farmer’s coop comprising of over 200 coffee farming villages in Uganda). Using reverse logistics, the team then captures and distributes spent coffee grounds from corporate partners to local community gardens to use as a fertiliser.

100% of the profits received are invested in development projects in Uganda. To achieve this, Bugisu partner with local charities and NGOs which manage impactful educational and environmental projects in communities across Uganda.
