Biomechanics & Mechanobiology

The biomechanics of human movement, investigates a person’s physical performance. Our research focuses on the biomechanics of human movement in the presence of a medical device and primarily on the performance of people with amputation. We develop methods that improve the fit and function of prostheses to improve comfort and quality of life. Mechanobiology studies how the body responds to mechanical stimuli engendered through physical movement in an integrated fashion, internalizing and transferring forces from organ, through tissue to cellular level.
