Female alumni are winners at Chemeca Conference
The annual Chemeca Conference was held in Melbourne on 23-26 July 2017 and is one the largest gathering of scientists and engineers in Australia. This year’s theme, “INNOVATION THROUGH SCIENCE & ENGINEERING”, celebrates the pivotal role of chemical engineers and industrial chemists in creating new knowledge and translating it into trailblazing technologies that enhance our quality of life.
We are proud that three of the winners of the 2017 Chemical Engineering Awards of Excellence were UNSW School of Chemical Engineering female alumni and are Professors in other universities.
- Judy Raper, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation at University of Wollongong, received the CHEMECA medal
- Fariba Dehghani, Professor at University of Sydney, received the Research Excellence Award and
- Cordelia Selomulya, Professor at Monash University, was awarded the Fonterra Award
We were also fortunate to have four generations of Professors, who obtained both their Bachelor and PhD degrees from UNSW, attend the conference. Chris Fell was Judy’s supervisor, Judy was Rose Amal’s, and Rose was Cordelia’s supervisor.
