I completed my Bachelor and PhD in Chemical Engineering at UNSW (2004). Since completing my studies, I have worked in industry research and product development (R&D), manufacturing, and engineering over 14 years; predominantly at James Hardie Building Products, Rosehill. I started as a graduate process engineer and progressed to a senior management position in the R&D division. As a Senior Technical Leader, my primary responsibilities have been producing capital expenditure documents for sign-off at the senior executive level, putting a team in place for project execution, concept and feasibility, design phase, construction, installation through to commissioning. My key achievement was the implementation of a strategic raw material platform technology which was delivered across the business globally.

Over the last two years, I have been involved at UNSW (CEIC) teaching on a casual basis; part of the Sustainable Product Engineering and Design, Experimental Practice, Design Project and Advanced Particle Systems Engineering classes. My focus will continue to be on the fundamental elements of the courses but with a link to industry purposes and best practices.

This will enable the student’s learning experience to be industry relevant. I am also the Industrial Training and Taste of Research Co-ordinator.
