Who is allowed in the Laboratory?

Staff and postgraduate research students

Staff and postgraduate research students who wish to work in the UNSW School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CVEN) must:

  1. Possess the required level of training and licensing;
  2. Complete all inductions with the relevant laboratory managers; and
  3. Uphold their responsibilities to work safely in the laboratory on an ongoing basis.

Visitors and coursework students

Coursework students include all undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students.

Although visitors and coursework students may not need to undergo the same level of training and authorisation as laboratory workers, some training, authorisation and/or supervision is required. They should not work in the laboratory unsupervised.

After hours work

Coursework students must not work in the laboratory after hours. Postgraduate research students must work in pairs. Risk assessment must be carried out and approved. Users must sign into laboratory sign in system where available.
