The importance we place on the movement of our research to practice cannot be overstated. For Professor Stephen Foster, Head of School, ‘it is fundamental to whom we are, and what the School is – and always has been - about.’  In our first industry connections newsletter we profile our latest Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Projects which range across the spectrum of civil, environmental and geospatial engineering; including construction, sustainable materials,  humanitarian, transport and water resources engineering,

Under the Linkage scheme, the Australian Government provides further financial support for research projects which already have industry partners - as cash or in-kind contributors. This industry/academy collaboration is essential to transforming industries, building communities and strengthening the Australian economy. ARC Linkage projects, however, are only one of the many ways the School relates to industry –as interviews in this issue with our Water Research Laboratory Manager Grantley Smith, and Advisian Professor for Transport Innovation, Travis Wallermake clear. Each year our academics and research centres work with dozens of industry and government organisations on specific industry related projects within a wide variety of time frames. The award-winning Wetlands Restoration project is but one example.

The School invites industry and community groups to connect with us to explore further ways of linking our remarkable researchers and facilities with your needs and ambitions. Our research hubs and centres are listed with email contact details of key research leaders. Come talk with us. CVEN is open for business.
