Dr Ali Ardeshiri is a Senior Research Associate in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNSW and a member of the Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI). Before joining UNSW, Ali worked as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Institute for Choice - University of South Australia. As an urban economist and a choice modeller, his primary research interest mainly focuses on studying the human preferences and behaviour towards any given urban, environmental and resource program and policies.

His key research interests include:

  • Behavioural analysis
  • Transport and land use planning
  • Housing search and neighbourhood preferences
  • Tourism and destination choice
  • Resource and energy economics

Ali holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from Shiraz University and a PhD in Planning from Newcastle University (UK).
