Top 50 for UNSW Engineering!
UNSW has been placed in the world's top 50 for Engineering/Technology and Computer Sciences.
The Academic World Ranking of World Universities has listed UNSW as number 42 (tied with the University of Washington) in the world for engineering/technology and computer sciences. This fantastic achievement makes UNSW the only Australian university to place in the top 50 within this competitive category.
Dean of Engineering, Professor Mark Hoffman was pleased to see that the phenomenal work of our researchers, students, and graduates has been reflected in this excellent ranking.
“To be listed as the only Australian university in the top 50 in this category is a gratifying achievement. Our focus on creating a positive impact on society and the economy, backed by our dedication to providing the very best education and research outcomes has earnt us this result” said Professor Hoffman.
The ARWU is compiled by China’s Shanghai Jiao Tong University and focuses on research performance such as the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes, Field Medals and articles published in the journals Nature and Science, and per capita performance of a university. More than 1200 universities are actually ranked by ARWU every year and the best 500 are published.
