Title: Should Australia focus on mining minerals other than coal?

With UNSW Scientia Professor Martin Green

The following text is from the ABC Radio National's Breakfast program Friday 24 May 2019 presented by Fran Kelly:

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is set to announce a deal on a deadline for approving the mining giant Adani's Carmichael coal mine today.

The push to get the controversial mine over the line after years of delays comes after Labor's shock defeat at the federal election on the weekend, in particular its wipe out in Queensland.

But the focus on coal mining jobs in Queensland ignores the many jobs that could come from mining and exporting other minerals used to make steel, glass and batteries for renewable energy.
