1 September 2018 - 9:00am to 4:00pm
Venue:
UNSW Campus Kensington

From preparation to get the most out of your Open Day, to tips and tricks for the day itself - find out everything you need to know about UNSW's 2018 Open Day below.

What is Open Day?

Open Day is your chance to experience UNSW up close! Get answers to your degree related questions from current staff and students, tour the campus and find out how to get involved in other parts of university life. There will be representatives from Scholarships and Exchange, as well as lectures and hands on experiences for you and your friends. Don't forget the free food and goodies to be collected as well. Come and be a part of the festivities on campus!

Who should come to Open Day?

Open Day is designed for prospective students to get all the information they need about further study, but it's so much more than that! Students of all ages are welcome, as are their parents and families. Open Day is also a celebration of university life, so community members and alumni are also encouraged to attend.

When and where is it held?

This year, Open Day falls on Saturday, 1 September. The  festivities will be held at our Kensington Campus and at our UNSW Art & Design Campus in Paddington. Open Day at the UNSW Canberra at ADFA will be on Saturday, 25 August this year. Find out more about it here.

What time should I arrive?

The party kicks off at 9am and will be continuing all day until 4pm. Come for an hour or make a day of it! There's plenty to do, experience university life and have a fantastic time!

How do I get to campus?

UNSW is easily accessible by car and public transport. Free parking is available on the day and express buses will be running from Eddy Ave at Central Station to the Kensington Campus all day. For more information, visit the Getting to UNSW page. Free shuttle buses will also be running between the Kensington Campus and the UNSW Art & Design Campus in Paddington.

Who should I bring?

Open Day is an experience best shared with your nearest and dearest. Parents, grandparents, friends - everyone is welcome!

Do I need to register?

Registration is not compulsory but by signing up you will receive updates and reminders direct to your inbox. You can register here.

How do I know what's on?

The UNSW Uni-Verse: Official App has an excellent 'Plan My Day' tool, which lists 250+ great activities that are happening on campus. You can search by interest area, then add the ones you like to your own individual plan. Easy! You can then print off your plan, share it via email or access it on your mobile on the day - we'll even have Free Wifi on campus for you! You can view the full Open Day Program here.

I've arrived on campus. Where do I start?

Your first stop should be the Advisory Centre in the Scientia Building. It's a straight walk up the University Mall - you can't miss it! There you can pick up a goodie bag and get all your degree related questions answered before moving on to explore the rest of campus.

How do I navigate the campus?

UNSW is like a mini city - it even has its own postcode! Knowing where to go is half the battle. You can print off a Campus Map, which easily points out the main areas for Open Day or you can use the Free Wifi on campus to download the UNSW Uni-Verse: Official App from the App Store. There'll also be big yellow and black signage on the day and floor stickers to help you find those main lecture theatres. If all else fails, you can ask a Student Ambassador (wearing the yellow shirts) who will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Where do the Campus Tours depart from?

Campus Tours leave intermittently from the bottom of the Scientia Building (map ref G19) while Accommodation Tours leave from International Square (map ref H17).

Are the campuses accessible?

Yes. Both campuses are fully wheelchair accessible. If you have any questions about navigating campus or the support services available for students, have a chat to our Disability Services staff by calling and let them know you're coming to Open Day - (02) 9385 4734.

Help! I can't make it to Open Day! What do I do?

Sometimes you just can't get there - we understand. That's why we run great events throughout the year as well! Campus Tours are run every Friday afternoon and the first Saturday of the month. We also have lots of workshops for high school students which let you experience life as a university student for the day. You can register for all these events and more here.
