The UNSW SunSprint Model Solar Car Challenge is an exciting competition for high school students in Years 7 to 12 where they team up to design, build and race a model car powered only by the energy of the sun.

Are you looking for something really fun and educational for your students, your children or to share with your fellow classmates?  If so, then this is your event.  SunSprint is a group of solar powered races for K-12 that brings the fun of competition to learning.

  • SunSprint - a model solar car race on a 100 metre figure eight track (Yr 7-12)
  • MiniSprint - kit cars built by students with parental or teacher supervision that runs on a straight track - requires soldering (K-12)
  • Solar Boats - a race that is really fun and easy to participate in (K-12)

SunSprint is part of the UNSW Open Day event and is run on the first Saturday in September.  (The SunSprint Yr 7-12 event is a two day event over the Friday and the Saturday).
