Choose your specialisation during your degree!
If you aren’t sure which field of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering to choose, don’t panic. All our degree specialisations start with a common first year program – in fact, all our programs except Mechatronics share the same structure for the first two years of your degree! During this time, you'll study basic science, mathematics, engineering and design concepts, visualisation and analysis courses. Which means that you don’t need to decide which specialisation to take until at least the end of your first year.
There are almost always two intakes of students – at the beginning of the year and at mid-year.
Flexible First Year option
If you know you want to do engineering but don’t want to narrow your field right away you can also select the Faculty of Engineering Flexible First Year option. The first year of engineering study has a common core of subjects plus a wide choice of electives, which allows you to study a number of areas that appeal to you without making a formal commitment until the end of your first year.
