Peak body for resources professionals and UNSW Sydney announce four-year partnership
The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and UNSW Sydney have this week announced a four-year partnership that will showcase the University as a leader in resources education on the world stage.
Signed at UNSW in front of representatives from the two bodies, the partnership will bring together nearly 200 years of combined expertise by both the AusIMM and UNSW to encourage a path into one of Australia’s most critical sectors for domestic and international students alike.
AusIMM CEO Stephen Durkin welcomed the new partnership between the two longstanding institutions.
“AusIMM is working hard to ensure our organisation, and the professionals we represent, are well-positioned for an even stronger future. This means aligning with the strongest brands and like-minded organisations who share our goals to promote and uphold industry standards and best practice,” Mr Durkin said.
“We’re delighted to announce this four-year partnership with UNSW, which will see us work closely together on promoting UNSW to an audience of resources professionals while aligning our brands to showcase academic excellence in the sector.”
Mark Hoffman, former Dean of Engineering at UNSW used the signing ceremony to reiterate the importance of partnerships in achieving success.
“We are very appreciative that this partnership opportunity exists,” said Professor Hoffman.
“Having an industry alliance like this enables UNSW to innovate and educate in partnership with one of Australia’s leading industries. I would like to give particular thanks to those that have driven this relationship because it will stand by all of us for many years to come.”
The partnership was signed at UNSW’s Kensington campus on Wednesday 29th January 2020 in front of leaders and representatives from both organisations.
