Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is an international body representing Petroleum Engineers and Oil and Gas Professionals. It seeks to act as a connecting platform for engineers all around the world to support technical knowledge as well as industry growth.

Similarly, the SPE UNSW Student Chapter represent students aspiring to pursue a career in the petroleum industry. We aim to facilitate this by maximizing industry exposure and providing valuable opportunities for personal and professional development. These include: hosting company visits to the School; organizing field trips within and inter-state; inviting industry to present technical talks; an annual Student Dinner; and host various other more social activities often in collaboration with other societies. We hold ourselves to the highest of standards and always look for bigger and better opportunities that students can benefit from. The results are closer, stronger and new relationships between professionals and students. Established in 1986 alongside Australia’s first undergraduate Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering degree, we are proud and strong community of over 100 members and alumni worldwide.

SPE UNSW encourages all petroleum students to join our ever-increasing member base for the best possible experience at UNSW and networks that propel you far and high in your career.
