Awards and Prizes

It makes sense that the harder you work at university the better off you’ll be in the future. But all that hard work often goes unnoticed. At the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering we try to show our hard-working students that their effort hasn’t gone under the radar. We reward students in various ways – through things like prizes and the Dean's Awards, both of which are also great ways to get a leg up in the future.

We offer a range of prizes sponsored by some of our key industry partners and donors. Prizes are awarded to current students based on academic merit and performance within a particular course or project.

Petroleum Engineering Awards and Prizes

Each year the School in conjunction with industry sponsors and the SPE Student Chapter award high performing students at our Annual Awards Dinner.

The first group of awards are to students who have demonstrated outstanding overall academic performance among their peers. These awards go to the outstanding student in each year of the undergraduate program along with the outstanding postgraduate coursework and postgraduate research students.

There are also awards given out to the highest performing student(s) in more than ten different undergraduate courses.

Finally, several special prizes are awarded including the Henry Salisch Student Service Award and the SPE NSW/ACT Section Scholarship.

The Dean's Awards

The Faculty of Engineering Dean's Award is an annual award made to students in all undergraduate degree courses offered in the Faculty. The award recognises significant academic achievements of students currently studying at the leading Engineering Faculty in Australia.

The Dean's Honours List recognises high achieving students enrolled in one of the UNSW Faculty of Engineering's undergraduate programs, including combined degree programs.
