UNSW Mining Engineering invites you to the 2017 Mitsubishi Minerals Sustainability Lecture & Cocktail Function.

This year's lecture will be presented by Associate Professor Michael Hitch, Director of the Australian Centre for Sustainable Mining Practices (ACSMP)

on the topic of "Social License Today and Tomorrow".

The lecture looks at Social License (Social License to Operate or SLO) from its originator's earliest intention, through its evolution and often uneven application, as it has been influenced by an ever-changing sustainable development paradigm, and governance shift. The future of social license is through reconnecting communities and society, as a whole, with the raw materials we mine, along the value chain through to the consumer products we use and consume, and finally how we dispose of them.

When: Thursday 4th May, 2017

Lecture (no charge): 6pm to 7:15pm

Cocktails ($40): 7:15pm to 9:00pm

Venue: Enter via Gate 4 Colombo Theatre A, Colombo House (B16), UNSW Kensington

RSVP: 27 April, 2017
