Women In Engineering Farewell Afternoon Tea
UNSW Engineering farewells female graduates
Yesterday UNSW Engineering said goodbye to its recent female graduates at a champagne afternoon tea.
The event was attended by 50 graduating women with UNSW academics, industry professionals and alumni helping to celebrate this special occasion.
The Women In Engineering Manager, Dr Alex Bannigan, said the afternoon tea is not only to congratulate them on this significant rite of passage, but also reinforces their connections with each other as they start their professional networking.
“They are joining a new community upon graduation,” said Dr Bannigan. “In their case, being women in engineering, there’s quite a sub-community that they will be part of.”
The Dean of UNSW Engineering, Professor Mark Hoffman, spoke of how engineers create things that make our lives better. As part of this profession, he said, these women will achieve great things.
The Vice-President Advancement, Jennie Lang, also addressed the attendees, welcoming the graduates to the alumni community.
