“We’ve supported UNSW’s Women in Engineering initiative since its launch in 2014 as it allows us to engage with some of the best and brightest graduates. In the past year alone our company has welcomed 90 graduates, almost half of whom are female.

However, Andrew believes that creating an equal playing field in professional services is best not left to chance.
“As industry leaders we still need to make a concerted effort to encourage diversity. As a firm we are leading from the front and making every effort to ‘live’ our values. We have designed a range of programs to support workplace flexibility and gender equality in line with leading practice. Our Diversity Council keeps the momentum up for positive change. Externally, in my role as President of Consult Australia, I actively pursue a diversity agenda and participate in the Consult Australia Champions of Change, while other colleagues participate in various industry groups, including Chiefs for Gender Equity, Closing The Gap and Engineers Australia’s National Committee for Women in Engineering.
“Changing mindsets, attitudes and behaviours takes time and I believe our graduates have a significant role to play in helping to bring about this cultural shift. Their input is vital to making businesses like ours a great place to work.”
