Who we are
UNSW Hyperloop is a group of 27 students aspiring to establish themselves as Australia’s front runner in hyperloop technology. UNSW Hyperloop was founded at the end of 2018 with the purpose of innovating the future of high-speed travel. As conceptualised by Elon Musk, the technology explores the potential for pressurised pod vehicles moving through vacuum tubes to travel at speeds twice that of planes with the added benefit of lower fuel consumption and increased safety.
With 2019 being our first year of developing a hyperloop pod, we intend on inspiring UNSW and its students to get excited and involved about innovating ways to create faster and better transport. With support from our university community we aim to expand our team and develop our pod for the years to come.
Major goals and achievements
After an intensive application process, extensive testing, and a rigorous interview conducted by SpaceX, UNSW Hyperloop has been formally selected to compete at the 2019 Hyperloop Pod Competition in Hawthorne, California this July. We will be pitted against 21 of the most revered engineering universities to create the fastest functional pod we can, while global media and the hyperloop community watches on.
