Student Resources and Services
Information and resources for Engineering students at UNSW.
Special consideration and supplementary examinations
You must submit all assignments and attend all examinations scheduled for your course. You should seek assistance early if you suffer illness or misadventure which affects your course progress. All applications for special consideration must be lodged online through myUNSW within 3 working days of the assessment, not to course or school staff. More details regarding Special Consideration.
Continual course improvement
UNSW Engineering courses are under constant revision in order to improve the learning outcomes for all students. Please forward any feedback (positive or negative) on our courses to the course convener or via the Course and Teaching Evaluation and Improvement Process (CATEI). You can also provide feedback to your school society who will raise your concerns at student focus group meetings. As a result of previous feedback obtained for our courses and in our efforts to provide a rich and meaningful learning experience, we have continued to evaluate and modify our delivery and assessment methods.
On issues and procedures regarding such matters as special needs, equity and diversity, occupational health and safety, enrolment, rights, and general expectations of students, please refer to the UNSW policies.
Student equity and disabilities
In the event of a short term event beyond your control that affects performance in a specific assessment task or tasks, you should apply for special consideration. Students with a disability, and those with ongoing medical conditions, who require consideration of their circumstances and support, are advised to register with the Equity and Disabilities Unit. Students are required to apply for Special Consideration and all applications and necessary documentation should normally be provided by the student to the University as soon as practicable after the problem occurs, and, at the latest, within three working days of the assessment or the period covered by the supporting documentation. Applications made on behalf of a student by an external representative are only acceptable in cases of student incapacity. More information about the university's special consideration policy.
Students’ equity and disabilities issues should be pursued via the Student Equity Officers (Disability) in the Student Equity and Disability Unit (9385 4734). Further information for students with disabilities.
