The Master of Engineering in Renewable Energy enables students to specialise and gain depth of knowledge in areas related to renewable energy technologies, systems engineering, energy efficiency, and assessment frameworks.

Industrial Training Students must complete 60 days of renewable energy related industrial experience.

Cognate disciplines: Renewable Energy Engineering, Photovoltaic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. Professional experience in renewable energy industry will be highly regarded.

 

Required Background

Students need a four year equivalent Engineering degree with a minimum 65% average in a cognate discipline.

GSOE9017 Managing Energy Efficiency This course covers the various methodologies, technologies and policies that can be used to reduce energy use, while still producing what that energy is needed for - heat, light and movement.
SOLA9001 Photovoltaics The use of solar cells (photovoltaic devices) as electrical power supplies based on the direct conversion of sunlight into electricity.

SOLA9103 Renewable Energy System Modelling and Analysis The purpose of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge and relevant skills for energy system performance analysis, modelling and monitoring.
SOLA4012 Photovoltaic Systems Design Photovoltaic (PV) systems are one of the few distributed renewable electricity generation options that can be readily used in urban areas (as grid connected systems) and in remote areas (as stand-alone systems), with little environmental impact at the site and potential economic benefits for the user and the network operator.

SOLA5051 Life Cycle Assessment This course will deal with life cycle analysis and its use for life cycle assessment of energy systems. Methodologies, boundary issues, data bases and applications will be studied.
