Ajay Raj Adhikari, Master of Engineering Science (Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Geology)

"Although the subject matter is very complex, the lecturers and tutors are extremely helpful and willing to tailor lectures to individual classes to meet the different interests and situations."

Ajay Raj Adhikari International student in the Masters of Engineering in Science in Geotechnical Engineering

The UNSW Master of Mine Geotechnical Engineering is a one-and-a-half year full-time or flexible part-time course that teaches the core principles and technologies associated with mine geomechanics.

This degree is designed for those who work within the underground hard rock or underground coal mining industries, and who have responsibilities in the field of strata control. It has been specifically designed to cater for those professionals with both an engineering and a scientific background.

Postgraduate degrees like this one can make a significant difference for those already working in the industry or for those planning a career change. If you would like to advance your career in the mining industry, this course will arm you with the latest skills and knowledge.

You’ll study the fundamental principles of rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering, followed by comprehensive coverage of practical strata control applications. Topics studied include hazard and risk management, mining geomechanics, geotechnical engineering, mining operations and more.
