Postgraduate Coursework Degrees

Master of Engineering

Entry is open to students with a three or four year Bachelor of Engineering degree in a related discipline with a minimum 65% average*.

(Applicants who hold a three year Engineering Science degree at least equivalent to the first three years of a related Engineering degree accredited under the Washington Accord may be considered also.)

Master of Engineering Science

Students need a recognized four year Bachelor of Engineering degree or a UNSW Graduate Diploma in a related discipline of engineering with a minimum 65% average*.

Master of Information Technology 

  • a three year undergraduate degree equivalent to a standard Australian bachelor degree in a discipline containing mathematics up to year two level, and an average mark of 65% average OR
  • completion of the 7543 UNSW Graduate Certificate in Computing, and an average mark of 70% average OR
  • completion of the 5543 UNSW Graduate Diploma in Information Technology, and a minimum 65% average.

NOTE: The minimum average required for entry is as determined by the UNSW Postgraduate Entry Score Calculator which adjusts for the pass mark of your institution.

Country and regional specific admission requirements

British students 

Students with three year British degrees are eligible to apply for UNSW Engineering's postgraduate programs. However, applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

NOTE: Students accepted with 3 year degrees will not be granted Advanced Standing for UNSW Engineering Masters programs and must complete the full 2 years of Masters study.

Chinese students

Students from a non-211 university in China need a minimum 70% average for most Engineering programs.
