What's it all about?

■  Geospatial engineers are the most recent additions to our engineering family. They use new and developing technologies such as GPS, satellite imagery, laser scanning and fast computing to create complex layers of interconnected geographic information. Geospatial engineers work with teams of other professionals to analyse complex situations, visualise problems and provide 'spatial' solutions.

What does it include?

■  This degree will provide you with the appropriate mix of skills for the new digital geoinformation boom - digital mapping, satelling/airborne image manipulation, building geoweb and mobile applications, setting up geoinformation systems (GIS), spatial analysis, satellite imagery and earth observation. It also includes a large number of Computer Science subjects.

Where will you work?

■  Today we can measure position very accurately. Geospatial information constantly reveals new insights about our world and our place in it, with graduates working in emergency services, urban planning, health, the management of natural resources, insurance, transport planning, telecommunications, with Google and with the United Nations.

MATH1131 Maths 1A Assumed knowledge: Students will be expected to have achieved a combined mark of at least 100 in Mathematics and Mathematics Extension 1.
MATH1141 Higher Maths 1A You should take this course if you have a combined HSC Mathematics Extension 1 and 2 mark over 175.
PHYS1121 Physics 1 Assumed knowledge: HSC Physics and Mathematics Extension 1 or equivalent.
PHYS1131 Higher Physics 1A Covers the same content as PHYS1121, however features more advanced assessment.
